We encourage residents to bring small items of furniture and other personal belongings from home to individualise their room. Contact us for more details about this.
All our bedrooms are maintained to a high standard, and we ensure that any redecoration is carried out with minimal inconvenience to the resident. We also offer a choice of décor where appropriate.
Our staff can provide day to day help like washing, dressing, having meals, continence care, assisted eating and drinking and moving around the home. Special activities are also offered to help residents to stay mobile, active and independent. We also provide a more specialised care service on request to suit residents who have a severe disability, a serious long-term condition, dementia or very restricted mobility.
The activity programmes provided by our care teams are tailored to meet peoples residential care needs and capabilities – and are thoroughly enjoyed! These include gardening, baking, outings, gentle exercise, pet care and life-skills work. Other specialist activities such as reminiscence therapy, music therapy and complimentary therapies are also a part of our activities programmes.
Everyone deserves time out. Whether you care for a relative or are in need of care yourself, taking a break from your usual routine can do the world of good.
As a carer you can relax, knowing that your relative, friend or patient is in a safe, welcoming environment with expert care tailored to their needs. A respite stay at the glade care home gives many people the opportunity to enjoy time with friendly and welcoming staff and residents.
Respite care is ideal for those looking for convalescence, either following a hospital stay or an illness. Many people also arrange a trial stay as a temporary resident to see if the home is the right choice for them as their new home.
At the Glade Care Home we also provide End of Life as well as a Palliative care tailored to suit each resident’s requirements and requests. As the end is inevitable at some point for all of us, it is hoped that we can provide a dignified and peaceful environment that is facilitated with the highest standards of service. Our staff are all trained using nationally recognised guidelines to provide residents at this stage with 24 hour care, offering sensit.
Requests can be made by residents at any time during a residency to introduce End of Life care so that we can work together with other medical professionals and therapies to treat residents’ medical condition until such time as it can be changed to End of Life care where we try to help manage a resident’s pain levels but we also try to ease other distressing conditions, while providing psychological, spiritual and social support for them and their family members.
There are now nearly 850,000 people living within the United Kingdom with a diagnosis of dementia.
Some people who receive a diagnosis of dementia are able to live independently at home with support from a relative, friend or paid carer and may never need to go into a care home but for those that do, we want to make sure that the experience is as close as possible to the care that the person would have received at home.
Staff within our walls receive training to help them to support people living with dementia in our care home. They spend time learning about the different types of dementia that the person may have and how they might best support the resident through person centered approaches as well as learning about a range of interventions that may help to reduce any distress and promote well-being.
